Desuto have developed a decision support platform for professionals which aims to simplify their work. The ehealthtracker decision support tools, by Desuto, guide staff to choose the best course of action when they are making complex decisions about care. Users, typically doctors, nurses, social workers, care home owners and managers, who are required to make decisions for those who lack mental capacity utilise the tools by answering a short series of questions with mostly yes or no answers. At each stage the tool provides the user with guidance to ensure that their decisions are lawful, ethical and evidence based. Unlike some other decision support software, the ehealthtracker tools produce professionally written reports of the factors considered and the final decision. The reports can be downloaded, edited and personalised before being printed or entered into an electronic records system. ehealthtracker provide decision support and report writing tools for healthcare decisions. ehealthtracker tools are free to use. The tools can be used to help staff with Mental Capacity Assessments, Best Interest decisions and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. The tools produce reports for use in case files which save staff time and reduce the risk of litigation. ehealthtracker tools support real-time decision making and are a more effective method for developing staff expertise than e-learning. The business is a partnership run by two senior health and social care practitioners and a web programmer. Currently over 50 organisations and over 1300 individuals use the tools.
