I am Himalay Verma. I did my Master of Regional Planning from Cornell and was picked up by Mr. Ratan Tata to work at TRIL. I have another master from IIT Roorkee and Schooling from The Doon School Dehradun. In 2009, I started a rural agri food venture called SKILL Foods and a foundation for underprivileged children called SKILL Foundation. In 2019, I received the Bihari Changemaker for this work. SKILL Foundation (Mr. Prem Verma) received the Top education award for Bihar in 2019, Abul Kalam Azad Education Award. SKILL Foods is a complete rural solution. SKILL Foods began work in 2009. And SKILL Foundation began work in 2007-08. The story of SKILL Foods and SKILL Foundation is how it brought about a transformation in 3 locations in India; Two in Bihar and one in Gujarat. SKILL Foods and SKILL Foundation work in tandem. One developing human resource - trained and other is absorbing the HR as we move along. We gave to the farmers what they want. We are relevant in the rural economy. We started with selling 7 kgs of milk and now over the last few years we have graduated to selling seeds, crop care, fertilizers and rotary tillers all over Bihar and Jharkhand. We have been appointed stockist and distributors. We have also expanded to Jambughoda in Gujarat. SKILL Foods also procures fruits and vegtables from farmers all over Bihar and Gujarat and facilitates suppy to Food processing industries and buyers all over India.
