Company profile

Oscarito company profile

Oscarito’s designs and produces clothing and uniforms for infants and children as well as embroidery for corporate promotional materials. Oscarito’s has one retail store and a small factory in Masaya, Nicaragua. Aída Mayorga started Oscarito’s with a $100 microfinance loan. Fifteen years later, Aída and her husband, Oscar Garcia, employ over fifty people in their clothing manufacturing business. As Aída expands Oscarito’s, both its product line and its distribution channels, she remains committed to growing the number of quality jobs made available, particularly for single mothers lacking formal education as well as young men that were addicted to drugs. In addition, Aída looks for ways to offer benefits beyond the norm including low-interest credit, food, work training for people in recovery from drug addiction and more! When we had the opportunity to visit the factory, we were very impressed by the comfortable and safe work environment, as well as the happy employees. Clothing factories (maquiladoras) have a poor reputation in the region for overworking employees and harmful work environments. Oscarito’s, who is competing with these same companies, offers a wonderful alternative.
