Open Connect Limited is a new company that was incorporated on 9th March 2016 following business unbundling in Malawi Telecommunication Limited and thereafter registration of the same as a separate special vehicle to manage, develop and maintain the fiber Network. Malawi Telecommunications Limited resolved to register and incorporate OCL as 100% owned subsidiary to house Fiber Optic Cable infrastructure business assets. OCL therefore houses the largest fiber network in Malawi that encompasses the main Telecommunication carrier backbone across Malawi and also inter-boarder crossings. For easy access into the backbone the network includes fiber metros in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
