Company profile

Mali Biocarburant SA company profile

MBSA is a private company that works with over 8,000 small farmers in three regions of Mali and Burkina Faso. MBSA implements decentralized sustainable processing units of biodiesel in West Africa. Sustainable development is facilitated by the integration of Jatropha in the existing systems of agricultural production, especially intercropping Jatropha with food crops and cash crops. The total consumption of vegetable oil for soap production in Mali is about 4,000 tons per month and is expected to grow by 5% annually, leading to a total addressable market of 5,360 tons per month in 2020 and 6,840 tons per month in 2030. Mali Biocarburant targets 300 tons per month in sales in 2020, which is only 6% of the market. To support and expand our business more than 80% of our revenues will come from specialty oils. The MBSA?s value proposition is that we purchase oil seeds from local farmers, extract oil, mostly for the soaps and cosmetic industry. Our specialty oils consistently meet or exceed European quality standards at stable prices that are 15% lower than imported vegetable oils, and enhance the gross household income of well over 10,000 smallholder farmers by more than 30%.
