Liberty Bank is a successor to state-owned “AgroMretsvBank” which was privatised in 1994, renamed to “People’s Bank of Georgia” in 2002 and renamed to Liberty Bank in March 2010. Liberty Bank is the third largest bank in Georgia by total assets, with a 5.3% market share as of 30 September 2017. The Bank has the largest branch network and serves approximately 1.6 mln individuals and over 77 thousand legal entities. On 12 October 2017, a 74.64% of the Bank's equity interest was acquired by European Financial Group B.V., a company established and organised under the laws of the Kingdom of Netherlands.
