Lao Airlines, formerly known as the Civil Aviation Company, was formed through the merger of existing carriers Royal Air Lao, and Lao Air Lines. The Lao national carrier initially operated on both international, and domestic routes with a fleet of Western aircraft, including the Douglas DC-3 and DC-4, as well as helicopters, which allowed access to more remote regions.
