The Knowmad Institut is an independent Think & Do Tank based in Brandenburg, Germany. Founded in 2018, it advances Human Dignity through Open Science, rights-based policy, and ethical technology. Our mission is to translate knowledge into impact, bridging research, governance, and innovation to foster human security and sustainable development. By combining social sciences, law, and emerging technologies, we develop tools and insights that help institutions, academia, and civil society act on evidence rather than ideology. We operate across four domains of practice: - Research & Diagnostics: applied and interdisciplinary studies that generate actionable intelligence for decision-makers. - Policy & Advocacy: evidence-based strategies on governance, digital rights, drug policy, and cultural knowledge. - Capacity Building: programs that strengthen institutional competencies in open science, technology ethics, and human-rights-based frameworks. - Strategic Dialogue & Exchange: convening global and regional actors to co-create humane, transparent, and resilient futures. Through partnerships and open infrastructures such as the Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies in Human Rights & Science (JMSHRS) and the Knowmad Research Gateway (KRG), the Institut contributes to a more dignified, sustainable, and multipolar world where science serves humanity.
