Heliotis was established in 2005 as a spin-off from Centre Suisse d'Electronique et de Microtechnique, a partially government sponsored research institution. Its activities consist of the development, the production and the sale of measuring systems which enable light microscopes to acquire 3D-images in real-time. Conventional OCT products have been used over the past few years for biomedical purposes, especially in ophthalmology. Heliotis offers a unique innovation called pOCT (parallel Optical low-Coherence Tomography) that allows for capturing of 3D-images two orders of magnitude faster than conventional systems.
