Green Guardians is dedicated to advancing environmental literacy as an activity-based and standards-linked paradigm in K-12 education across the United States and the world. We believe environmental literacy is an engaging context for all core subjects and provides students with relevant 21st century skills. Our guiding principles are to promote environmental literacy and action: 1) As central to each learner’s civic responsibility to protect, change, grow and share; 2) As a paradigm in which schools, families and communities collaborate to advance learning and change; 3) As a lens through which all disciplines, including language arts, mathematics and science, may be explored; and 4) As an offering accessible to all communities and schools on an equitable and inclusive basis. We are building a learning solution that connects standards-based instruction, experiential learning, and community engagement through a culturally responsive environmental lens.
