James then progressed to create his own custom built surgery on Wellington Road in 1974. In 1990 James retired from veterinary practice and his son Michael, who qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1977, took over as principal of the family business. In February 2010, Michael also retired from practicing veterinary medicine.
