CleanGhana is a pioneering waste management and recycling venture in Ghana, transforming urban waste challenges into sustainable economic opportunities. Founded to address the country's escalating plastic pollution—exacerbated by rapid urbanization and limited infrastructure—CleanGhana deploys advanced pyrolysis technology at its flagship facility near Accra to convert non-recyclable plastics into high-value products like diesel fuel, carbon black, and syngas. This closed-loop process not only diverts millions of tons of waste from landfills and oceans but also produces low-sulfur diesel (ULSD) for local industries, reducing reliance on imported fuels and cutting CO2 emissions by up to 80% compared to traditional incineration. With a focus on scalability, CleanGhana partners with municipal authorities and local businesses to expand across West Africa. Led by a team of co-founders blending global strategy and local expertise, the initiative will create jobs in collection, processing, and distribution—employing over 500 Ghanaians in its first year. By 2027, CleanGhana aims to process more than 100,000 tons annually, fostering a circular economy that powers Ghana's green transition and inspires regional replication.
