Cadens is a start-up in the field of micro- to small-hydropower and the deployment of Near Net Shape technology to turbine design and production. It has developed a low-head hydropower research facility in southeast W.I. to test and develop site-specific turbine systems. The company is applying CAD-driven, additive manufacturing, and modern power electronics to create innovative hydropower technologies that significantly reduces the leveled cost of energy for hydropower. Cadens plans to lead the way in the development of new hydropower technologies. It is building a team to actively address conversions to produce clean, renewable energy at existing non-power dams and existing powered dams in need of maintenance and upgrades. Cadens was founded in 2011 and is based in Milwaukee, W.I.
