A subsequence is a separate path for campaign leads after a status, activity, or reply condition is met. It helps you send a relevant next message, but a broad trigger can send to the wrong person. Build and test the branch before launching it.
When can I create one?
Open a launched campaign and look for the Subsequences tab. If it is absent, check campaign status, workspace permissions, and plan access. A branch with no eligible leads may show Complete and become active when new leads meet its rule.
How do I choose a trigger and build the message?
- Select Subsequences → Add New. Give the branch a name that describes its audience, such as “Interested: send product details.”
- Choose the available trigger: a lead status, an activity such as a link click, or a phrase in a reply. Prefer a specific phrase over a single word. For example,
interestedalso appears in “not interested,” whileplease send detailsis narrower. - Set the delay before the first branch message and add follow-up steps only where needed. Preview the subject, thread behavior, variables, and unsubscribe path with a representative lead.
- Review the branch Options, including the daily limit, selected accounts, and inherited campaign schedule. Keep sending limits aligned with the parent campaign and account.
- Launch the branch and confirm its status. Test with an internal lead before relying on a live trigger.
How do I manage leads after launch?
Automatic rules generally act on a new matching event; leads already in that status may need to be moved manually. In the campaign Leads tab, filter and select the intended records, then use Move to subsequence if available. Review the resulting lead status and branch analytics. To remove a lead, open the lead’s branch membership or status controls and confirm that future messages stop.
What can cause a wrong or missing send?
For no send, check whether the branch is launched, its trigger occurred after launch, the lead is eligible, the delay elapsed, the schedule is open, and account or branch limits are available. For a wrong send, pause the branch, inspect the trigger phrase and lead event, then narrow the rule. Keep out of office handling and pause and resume rules from creating duplicate follow-ups. Never move an opted out lead into a branch.
