Zamgoat Products Ltd is an impact agribusiness dedicated to the sustainable commercialization of the goat value chain for social and economic value. Primarily, Zamgoat is pioneering the value addition and improved distribution of goat products, targeting the growing local, regional and global market demand for goat meat and related products, empowering smallholder farmers in Zambia by now creating a sustainable market opportunity for goats. Founded in July 2012, Zamgoat started out with a meat products operation processing and selling goat meat products both on retail and wholesale to end consumers through own retail outlets(butcheries), as well as deliveries to restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, and other customers. At scale, the company is designed to grow across the goat value chain through vertical integration, with among other demand-side operations in culinary services through its proprietory brands including Zamgoat Xpress, BillyBurgers and Pizzagoat Africa and then later also pursue goat leather and dairy products operations, as well as the provision of knowledge/information services and improved breeding genetics to smallholder farmers through Zamgoat Information Services and Zamgoat Farms among other supply-side operations. The company has to date purchased over 5,000 goats, providing a sustainable and guaranteed market opportunity for over 500 smallholder farmers in Zambia, and generating over $500,000 in revenues. Zamgoat is currently seeking to scale up its meat products operation by setting up a state-of-the-art goat slaughterhouse and meat processing facility in Lusaka, as well as enhancing the company's supply chain by setting goat aggregation centers in strategic rural districts of Zambia.
