Wayne State University is a recognized metropolitan research university that offers undergraduate and graduate degree courses. Wayne State's comprehensive academic offerings are divided among 13 schools and colleges: the School of Business Administration; the College of Education; the College of Engineering; the College of Fine, Performing, and Communication Arts; the Graduate School; the Law School; the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; the College of Library and Information Science; the School of Medicine; the College of Nursing; the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences; the Irvin D. Reid Honors College; and the School of Social Work. Wayne State University offers more than 370 academic programs through 13 schools and colleges to nearly 29,000 students. Since 1915, Wayne State University has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, one of six regional accrediting agencies in the United States that provides accreditation to colleges and universities at the institutional level. Founded in 1868, Wayne State University is the third largest university in the state of Michigan and one of the 30 largest universities in the United States.
