Vespa.ai was built within Yahoo 20+ years ago as a lexical search engine (competing against Lucene-based search engines) to power all of Yahoo's search, recommendations, and personalization (still powering all Yahoo properties today). We adopted Tensor & Vector support in 2014, and since open-sourcing Vespa Engine in 2017, it's has been adopted by the largest internet businesses (e-commerce, market intelligence, marketplaces, social, apps) to power their multi-modal retrieval faster, and with higher accuracy, than any other alternative on the planet. Vespa.ai powers today's most advanced AI applications for companies like Spotify, Perplexity, Indeed, AlphaSense, Taboola, Vinted, Farfetch, and many others.
