Tuna Pay opens up new revenue streams and commercial opportunities to Java developers working with feature phones. Tuna Pay’s wrapper solution has helped independent developers achieve phenomenal success with apps such as ‘Phone Vibrator’ and ‘Dictionary9’ raising as much as $5,000 per month. Partnering with over 200 operators in 58 countries worldwide, Tuna Pay allows developers to spend more time programming and less time on marketing and distribution. It also delivers extensive data on sales figures, giving the feedback needed to refine products and increase profits. Tuna Pay provides app customers with a readily accessible purchasing option, overcoming the payment complications that plague the feature phone platform. By ‘wrapping’ an app with Tuna Pay’s ‘Try & Buy’, payment can be collected via premium rate SMS messages. Customers pay for apps the same way they would pay for normal SMS messages from their operator, meaning no need for an internet connection or third party platform. Since its foundation in 2010 by František Churý, Tuna Pay has grown rapidly and it now has a team of twelve permanent employees. The company’s potential has also been recognised by the South Moravian Innovation Centre (JIC) – a major Czech organisation that supports promising technology startups.
