Trans Africa Railway Corporation (TARC) held a 20 year concession with the Tanzanian Railway Corporation for the ownership and operation of the Kidatu break of gauge transhipment facility in Tanzania. The purpose of the transhipment facility was to allow freight to travel between the 1000mm German gauge and 1066mm Imperial gauge rail systems, near Kidatu in Tanzania. TARC was a legacy asset acquired by SAIF in 1998. Following the appointment of AIIM as Fund Manager in 2001, SAIF disposed of its equity interest in TARC in 2004.
