Switchboard provides local online advertising solutions and Internet-based yellow pages, interconnecting consumers, merchants and national advertisers. Switchboard helps consumers find and compare local businesses offering specific products and services, while creating revenue opportunities for merchants. Switchboard is a wholly owned subsidiary of SuperMedia LLC. Switchboard is a pioneer in the online yellow pages industry. After launching in February 1996, Switchboard introduced the Internet's first interactive yellow pages display ads. These ads were the first to capture the look and feel of traditional yellow pages print ads in an online environment. Switchboard was sold by parent company [Infospace](/organization/infospace) to Idearc Media, Now [SuperMedia](/organization/idearc), in September 2007.
