Propagation Labs offers measurement tools and data analysis systems that enable avalanche professionals to make more informed decisions in the mountains. With objective measurement tools, they hope to increase the understanding of snow and improve avalanche prediction, education, and decision making. It aims to build technology that engenders better data, sound science, and safer powder turns. The idea behind Propagation Labs was started over 5 years ago by a group of MIT students inspired by the avalanche problem. It was originally known as Avatech. When the original company pivoted away from the snow professional community, a few engineers still saw the promise of the core snow penetrometer technology, & they decided to form Propagation Labs.
