Morehead State University (MSU) operates with the simple yet ambitious mission of being much more. The school seeks to be much more than a standard public university, not just in terms of academics, but also in its community engagement, college life and focus on its students. In line with goals for exemplary academics, the school boasts over 75 programs from undergraduate to doctoral levels. Some degree programs are unique to the school - for example, Appalachian Studies and Horsemanship are not concentrations that you'd be likely to find elsewhere. MSU offers various types of aid, including work-study, grants, loans, and scholarships based on a number of criteria (including diversity, leadership, merit, and academics). There are plenty of financial aid opportunities available to those who qualify to help bring down the cost of tuition. Morehead State is also distinguished in its commitment to the Morehead community. Through its Center for Regional Engagement, the school encourages students to volunteer in the local community. The Center offers Regional Engagement Student Fellowships to juniors and seniors who demonstrate outstanding community service. The award for these fellowships is between $250 and $1,250 per semester, for up to four semesters.
