Background Information: Integrating Development towards Guided Parenthood (IDGP) registered in April 2008 as a charitable organization under Non-Government Organization (NGO) Act 1990 to operate in Taita Taveta and Nakuru Counties within County Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) Networks. IDGP is under the management of experienced volunteers in Peace Building and Conflict Transformation, Child Rights and Protection, and Environmental issues. IDGP has taken the lead of the 3 thematic areas and coordinates in collaboration with partnerships, networks, and synergies with other like-minded Institutions/Organizations to contribute towards finding possible community solutions felt needs. IDGP in partnerships with governments’ agencies and CSOs networks synergizes to addresses:- Family issues through child rights and protection relating to children, youth, men, and women. Environmental issues related to water and food insecurity through soil and water conservation bioengineering mechanism Vetiver Grass. Peace and Conflict issues focus on behavior and attitude change to support existing structures and systems at the national, county, and community level for cohesion, integration, and tolerance towards communities’ harmonious co-existence. Badilisha Maisha Mtaani Initiative is a crime and violence prevention measure conceptualized by IDGP to strategically focus on reaching out to children and youth most at risk within the informal settlements of Nakuru City. The initiative targets children and youth in/out of school to assist them to distance themselves from serious recorded crimes, offenses, and violence. Project Justification: IDGP focuses on enhancing mental health and wellbeing for children and youth most at risk in informal settlements together and addresses issues related to physical harm, psychological damage, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other serious psychosocial and emotional conditions, resulting from human rights violations and extrajudicial killings. Impact: To increase resilience among children and youth most at risk towards all forms of crime and violence and enhance institutionalized social-economic environmental platforms. Outcome: Focus on inculcating a culture of Active Non-Violent Approach (ANVA) to enable every child and youth to work towards harmonious relationships within the school and societal environment. Project Purpose: To facilitate positive attitudes change and perceptions among children and youth most at risk to convert physical energy into mental energy; ultimately creating a paradigm shift of the mindset among young genders and/to impact towards the elimination of all forms of crime and violence against children, men and boys, woman and girls.
