GeneNeer develops Crop Gene Editing platforms that promote high-value, GE, non-GM crop innovation on a rolling basis. The company has developed two proprietary gene-editing platforms with numerous advantages for crop variety development – especially beneficial in vegetative crops, such as potatoes, which are otherwise challenging to breed. Superlines are tissue cultures of an elite crop variety with GeneNeer’s advanced gene-editing system embedded within it. They enable fast, precise editing of multiple traits – cutting time and costs significantly in trait development and new variety creation. The use of Superlines eliminates the need for crossing or single-cell assays, both speeding and simplifying enhanced crop seed development. Once created, seed developers or GeneNeer can modify traits with unprecedented control, safety and speed – then completely remove the gene-editing cassette, preventing undesirable off-target events (GE, non-GM). Superlines may be used as a “back-up” system in the event of crop loss or botched development, and enhanced Superlines may be used for stacking additional traits in the future. Mirtrons activate or silence traits based on tissue type, timing, temperature and/or magnitude of expression – without stressing the plant or producing crop instability. This makes them ideal for highly specific, sustainable trait development. This technology is used on top of a Superline. Whether using just Superlines or Superlines + Mirtrons, these platforms offer scalable, sustainable solutions for developing next-generation crops, improving profitability and productivity.
