The wine cooperative Les Coteaux de La Vézère produces a diverse range of wines benefiting from the PGI appellation "vins de la Corrèze", including several white wines: (dry, tender, sweet and sweet), a rosé and a red. The winery produced 65,000 bottles in 2015. This production is expected to grow in the coming years with the planting of new plots. Located on steep slopes, this vineyard produces a wine that since the Middle Ages is renowned for its quality. Over the centuries, the oral tradition and some scattered writings, have forged the fame of some great wines of the vineyard Corrèze: vertougit, sajueix Voutezac, Allassac, Vignols, etc. The reputation of the wines produced in the communes of Allassac and Voutezac was such that the monks of Cluny Abbey in Burgundy regularly supplied themselves there. Local history says that the Popes Corrèziens, when they settled in Avignon, have taken and planted vines of Vertougit. This Correze vineyard reached its peak in the 19th century, covering the entire Bassin de Brive before being almost destroyed by the arrival of phylloxera around 1885. In the early 1990s, about fifteen passionate friends decided to revive this vineyard. After studies that identify the best exposures and the best slopes, the plantations begin in 2003. On this slate, schist soil was planted white grapes (Chenin, Sauvignon Gris, Chardonnay ...), and black grape varieties for reds and rosés (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir). Today the Coteaux de La Vézère vineyard covers an area of about 20 ha on the schistose slopes between Sainte Féréole and Voutezac. The number of vines per hectare is limited to 4000. The vineyard is cultivated in respect of the environment (limitation of phytosanitary products).
